Check store stock with your AI agent

Confirm the exact size, color or model at a local store, then decide whether to ask for a hold.

A product page may show general availability while a particular branch has sold out. Ask your agent to call the location and check the exact item before you travel there.

Identify the item and the branch

Give the product name, size, color and model or SKU if you have one. State whether alternatives are acceptable. Find the branch number on the store’s own website, then have your agent show you the number and call plan.

Call Lakeside Running at (415) 555-0145, using the branch’s website number. Ask whether the navy Trail Runner in size 9 is physically in stock there today. If it is, ask whether they can hold one under Jane Doe until 5 PM without payment. Don’t substitute another size or buy it.

This is a fictional example. Replace it with your item and store. Canadian recipients must have agreed to AI calls from you. Say yes once the plan and limits are right.

Decide how to handle an alternative

A different color, nearby branch or later delivery may still work for you. Put those preferences in the brief, or ask the agent to check with you before agreeing. Specify whether a free hold is allowed and when you can collect it.

If the store needs a deposit, card details or a purchase to reserve the item, have the agent report what is required so you can handle it. A stock check does not guarantee the item will remain available afterward.

Ask for the details that make the trip useful

Have your agent report the branch, exact variant, stock answer, price if quoted, and any hold deadline or reference. Distinguish “they have it” from “they agreed to hold it under your name.” If the staff member could not verify the shelf, keep that uncertainty visible.
